Are you a blogger?

My husband and I were chatting as we locked the front door and walked to the car to take our dog to the park.  No big deal, until I mentioned me blogging in the mornings.  And I suddenly became very aware of what I was saying outside the house.  In my driveway.  To the world.

Did it sound arrogant – “Ooh, I’m a blogger”.

Did it sound like I’m a name – “Ooh, I’m a famous blogger”.

Did it sound like I’m a pretender – “Ooh, I make my living being a blogger”.

And then I started wondering –

Well, when do you call yourself a blogger?

When you do your first post?  When you’ve been blogging for at least a year?  When you do a guest post on someone else’s blog?  When you have have a certain number of followers?  When you do it for a living?

Is there a difference between being a blogger and having a blog?  Are they the same thing or do they have different meanings?

Do you feel weird telling people you have a blog?

I’d love to know how you feel about this.  And who are some of your favourite bloggers?

Yea, sometimes I tell people I’m a blogger like when I’m in the craft store. And they politely say, “Oh?”. That’s it. They are totally not interested at all. It’s weird. I would be asking, “What’s a blogger do?” and etc. Well, have a happy Thanksgiving. Linda

Hi Linda – I so get what you are saying. I always think arty people are more into blogs because so many artists have one but they often aren’t. And I think they miss out on so much by not being a part of that world. And just to get an ‘oh’ when you tell people you have your own blog – so disappointing. But know there are people who will ask what your blog is about. Thanks so much for sharing.
