Learn from people who are already doing what you want to do.
- What is their website like? What do you like about it, what don’t you like? How do you feel when you first see the site? How easy is it to navigate? How do they make it special?
- What is their branding and styling? Logos, colour scheme, style. What does it make you think and feel? How does it reflect their art style?
- What do they offer on their site or blog? E-Courses, Workshops, Online Stores. Do they encourage people to interact with them via email, Facebook and Twitter? Or do they use their site as more of an exhibition space?
- What products they sell. On their site or on third party sites like Etsy. Look at how they create a range of products. How the products compliment each other. How they write their product descriptions. How do they photograph and style their products?
You be looking at a website for the first time, or you may have looked at it one thousand times before. Try looking at it with fresh eyes. See what you can learn, what ideas you get and how you could use your own style to create something unique that works really well for you as well as your customers.
